One Tower Bridge

A new paved shopping street linking Tooley Street with the southern end of Tower Bridge sits at the heart of a prime riverside development – a partnership between landowners Southwark Council and Berkeley Homes. Steintec products were used in more than 8,000 square metres of this exclusive London development.

The plans for this exceptional space, located between the Greater London Assembly and Tower Bridge on the south bank of the River Thames, were designed by Squire and Partners.

The development consists of nine blocks of residential accommodation and a large cultural facility. The location - once a heavily industrialised working wharf - is surrounded by cultural landmarks, making this an ideal space for a major cultural centre. The building materials, mass, and scale mediate between the brickwork and alleyways of Shad Thames and the modern glass and steel buildings of More London, and as a group, work together to create new access ways to connect the riverside to Tooley Street and Tower Bridge Road.

This unique riverside location gives fantastic views of the river, Tower Bridge, the Tower of London and City beyond, while the large public cultural facility will enhance the already diverse and existing mix of activities that run along the Thames.

One Tower Bridge is a mixed-use development comprising nine blocks of 396 residential units, commercial, cultural spaces and a single storey basement area. Blocks 1-8 consist of 353 residential units and ancillary floor space including an estate management facility, a large cultural space and commercial units accommodated in buildings of up to 11 storeys. There is also an impressive 20-storey residential tower block with roof area and ‘lantern’ structure at its top.

Included in the scheme are communal and private amenity spaces including an extension to and improvement of Potters Field Park and associated highway works and landscaping. The scheme also incorporates a large basement car park, plant rooms and a leisure suite.
