Where natural stone slabs and precast concrete flags are to be laid in areas subjected to only pedestrian trafficking, where no heavy vehicles may gain access, the choice exists between laying over a concrete base or an unbound or bituminous base.

Slabs laid over an unbound or bituminous base may be rigidly bedded and jointed, using mortar, so facilitating vacuum cleaning régimes.

Slabs laid over a concrete base can support heavy vehiclur traffic and also can use thinner slabs, saving vaulable natural resources.
The most economical method - over unbound base
A method statement employing the most economical SteinTec® mortars, over an unbound or bitumen base.  For use where a normal curing time is possible.  Products featured in this method statement are:
tuffbed 2-pack     (bedding mortar)
tuffbond   (priming/bonding mortar)
tuffgrout   (jointing mortar)

A method statement employing the most economical SteinTec® mortars, over a concrete base.  For use where a normal curing time is possible.
